At the opening session of RPSG Group's Annual Conference 2024, our Chairman, Dr Sanjiv Goenka, delivered an inspiring speech, clearly outlining the Group's strategic priorities for the upcoming years.
Here are excerpts from the Chairman's address.
Focus on Competitiveness
“It's a point where we have to decide on our future. A future which is going to be very competitive, which is going to be very pacey, which is going to be very responsive, and therefore we need to reinvent ourselves. We have done well in the past, and that's not good enough. We need to continue to do well in the future.”
Focus on Strategic Shifts
“We have to look at companies and businesses which either give us very strong cash flows or give us high market valuations. We have taken a call to move away from government intervention — intensive businesses, and with that, we have made a few strides. FMCG, Ayurveda, Chemicals, now Green Energy.”
Focus on Value Additions
“We have to get into more value-added products, more value-added services such that we can get higher valuations.”
Focus on Growth
“We have to think big, we have to think scale. We have to think of domination. Are we confident? I certainly am. Are we going to set new benchmarks? I certainly hope we will.”
Focus on Capability
“We have a team which I believe is confident of delivering. I have interacted with almost all of you personally. And I am very happy with the quality of the team that we have. And that is what gives me the confidence that we can deliver.”
Focus on Speed
“The definition of doing well has changed, the scale has changed. The aspirations have changed. The competencies required have changed. The speed of thought, the speed of action has changed. And with that, we have to change. “
Focus on Efficiency
“We have to change to be a lot more efficient than we have been.”
“It's an approach to growth based on efficiency, based on competency, based on accountability, and based on performance."
Focus on Accountability
“The only thing that matters to me is the performance of the business. And I think one area that we have lacked is accountability. That is an area which we need to improve significantly.”
